JBA has been providing mobile asset data management solutions to transport, utilities and environment clients for over 10 years, however specialist devices were needed to access software. GISmapp was developed in response to a growing need for clients to view and collect data using their mobile devices.
With 71% of UK consumer phone users owning a smartphone, JBA developed the app for iPhone and iPad users to prevent the need for multiple devices when capturing data.
GISmapp supports asset management across a range of services, including:
The app allows the user to define what data will be captured and provides a series of dynamic templates and forms which can be adapted for individual projects. This means that asset surveyors can be on site, collecting any type of data in less than 24 hours, particularly useful for emergency asset inspections.
GISmapp automatically geo-locates assets and photographs so that these can be viewed in a mapping environment.
The app also works in a semi-connected way so that users do not need network access to successfully add and edit data; information is automatically synchronised when a connection is available.
After synchronisation, data can be viewed and downloaded via a generic, map-based website or a bespoke service can be created for clients with more specific reporting requirements.
GISmapp is the latest in a range of iOS products by JBA; all of which provide asset management systems across the infrastructure, water and environment sector. JBA’s Technical Director for Web Applications, Roger Winterbottom, commented, “We have been helping our clients to manage their assets for over 10 years and have witnessed many significant changes in that time. GISmapp is a result of this as we work towards more flexible, accessible and efficient asset management.”
